ITV news reporter interviewing Dangerous Pockets Project leader, Paula MacGregor - at Essex University on International Woman's Day 2019

Dangerous Pockets Project

a community art collaboration

facilitated by artist Paula MacGregor MA
inspired by a poem by Sharon Owens:

This travelling show had its first showing on International Women's Day 2019
and has been touring around the UK ever since, growing along the way.
Everybody was invited to take part by making a pocket to add to the collection during 2019

No more pockets will be made now - that part of the project has come to a close after 15 months of making

The travelling show continued to be on the road during 2020 where possible,
but obviously got caught in the various C-19 lockdowns.

Dangerous Coats

Someone clever once said
Women were not allowed pockets
In case they carried leaflets
To spread sedition
Which means unrest
To you and me
A grandiose word
For common sense
Fairness
Kindness
Equality
So ladies, start sewing
Dangerous coats
Made of pockets & sedition
