Guide to what is on offer during my Open Studio Garden
There are four areas for you to explore in my garden, please feel free to take your time and interact with my work.
All books and drawers are for exploring (with due respect please).
I am happy to guide you and answer questions - or you can explore on your own.
Photos are allowed – however, if they are used on social media I would appreciate a link to my website,
(please take a business card for that info).
Thank you in advance
My Masters Degree was in book arts - but my artwork is not in the usual book format,
perhaps a more apt description would be that they are ‘assemblages with a narrative’.
I am very interested in ‘Immersive Installation Art’,
where an environment is created and viewers interact within the artwork
for a more holistic and ambient experience.
Welcome to my beautiful garden, and my unusual artwork
there is no particular order for you to explore, so go where your feet take you.

Outside the gate you will have noticed my crazy caravan:
1) The ‘Caravan of Curiosity’ with ‘One Green Bottle’ installation - a year long quest collecting 365 found objects and putting them in glass jars, giving them a new sense of preciousness. There is a tick chart to encourage you to find 25 items within the collection.
The caravan exterior paintwork was done by the local street artist ‘Little Hello’ in the dazzle style of the WW1 battle ships.
2) Wunderkammer installation (in the Summer House) – inspired by the historical Cabinets of Curiosity, my main driving force.
Here you will find many pieces of my assemblage artwork within one big installation: Museum of Migration, Pieces of Eight, Dwelling of the Muses, Whimsical Jumbles to name just a few.
3) ‘Ivy Sparrow’s cottage’ (near the house) – the major project for my MA ‘The Seamstress’ came from my purchase of one lot of the contents from an elderly ladies home, which was packed into ten cardboard boxes by a house clearance company and put into a yard auction. I have reworked Ivy’s story into a much bigger installation by adding new work.
‘The Grandmother Clock’ is not really part of Ivy’s story, but fits in well with it so now lives there too. It explores the theme of matriarchy, brought on by the fact that I became a GREAT Granny last year.
I encourage you to open and explore the twelve altered books that are chained up like the ancient libraries – you can even use the rose tinted glasses provided!
4) The Conservatory – here you will find pieces of work that did not fit anywhere else, plus a few pieces that are for sale - and a large pile of arty books with ridiculously cheep prices.
There may even be refreshments available!
