rescued textiles
I love rescuing textiles, my main source is a 'last chance' charity shop where all the items that have not sold in the main charity shops end up
before being sent off to the 'rag man' - making them very affordable indeed.

'The Folk Healer and the Bundle of Rags''Near and Far' is a group of textile artists led by artist Chris Gray.
We are working on a group exhibition with the theme 'Maps and Journeys'. We are making three items: one wearable - one decorative - one useful. I have written a Japanese style folk story called: The Folk Healer and the Bundle of Rags. My wearable item: a Boro Sashiko style coat made of rescued cotton and linen fabrics - work in progress, it depicts characters mentioned in the story. My useful item: assorted medicine bundles, carried from a belt My decorative item: an interactive book to hold the story (1,000 words) |
